The Neighbourhood Policing team will be conducting high visibility patrols in the Elan Valley area following an increase in ASB nuisance driving by illegal off roaders (Op Rover).
These reports include criminal damage being caused, lighting of unauthorised fires and a serious injury road traffic collision.
This priority will run from July- September 2026.

Speed reduction monitoring session was conducted in St Harmon with the following results: 37 vehicles checked in total; 4 speeding between 31-33 mph and 1 vehicle recorded speeding at 40 mph.

This priority plan will run from February-April 2026.

During this month, Neighbourhood policing worked closely with the relevant housing association, offering support and signposting to an individual causing ASB to local residents.

Community concerns have been raised around drug related activity during night time economy within Rhayader. Neighbourhood Officers plan to meet with various community groups to address this problem.
This priority will run from February-April 2026.

On the 6th June, PC 1008 and PCSO 8073 coordinated a targeted night time economy operation utilising Roads Policing, Rural Crime Team and Dog section, resulting in one arrest for drug drive and preventing assaults.

Rhayader BOBB committee continue to meet regularly, ensuring that individual causing ASB issues through alcohol or drugs are dealt with proportionately through banning periods.

PCSO 8073 Morris has continued to focus on high visibility patrols at the recent fair in Rhayader and taking the opportunity to deliver input around ‘online safety and scam calls’ session delivered to Nantmel WI group.

Neighbourhood and Roads Policing officers will be conducting speed checks at St. Harmon Road after receiving reports from the community regarding speeding.
This priority will run from January-March 2026.

During January, speed reduction sessions were conducted by the Neighbourhood officer on East Street and Brynterion Lane, Rhayader with alarming amounts of vehicles exceeding the 20mph speed limit.

Later in the month, a further speed reduction session on East Street, resulted in a reduction of 3 vehicles travelling at 24, 25 and 30mph.

In February, 32 vehicles were speed checked on South Street, Rhayader with 8 vehicles travelling between 27-34 mph.

Neighbourhood officers in conjunction with Roads Policing officers will be conducting further targeted operations to address this issue.
